FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Two adults were rescued by police early Tuesday morning after a fire broke out at an apartment in east Flagstaff.
At approximately 1:21 a.m., Flagstaff Police and Fire crews were dispatched to a residence in the 2300 block of East 4th Avenue following reports of a fire at the front door of an apartment, with occupants possibly trapped inside.
Flagstaff Police officers arrived first on scene and immediately began rescue efforts. Officers were able to safely remove two adults from the unit while encountering heavy smoke conditions inside.
Flagstaff Fire Department crews arrived within approximately four minutes and initiated an aggressive response. Firefighters conducted a search for any additional occupants while deploying hose lines, establishing incident command, and launching an offensive fire suppression strategy.
The fire was quickly contained, with much of the remaining effort focused on ventilating and clearing smoke from the apartment.
An ambulance was requested for at least one of the occupants, who suffered smoke inhalation. The extent of injuries has not been released.
Fire investigators responded to the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
