At approximately 4:30 a.m. this morning, officers with the Flagstaff Police Department and emergency medical personnel responded to the intersection of Empire Avenue and North Highway 89 after reports that a male pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle and was lying unconscious in the roadway.
When first responders arrived on scene, they located the victim suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries. The male was transported to the trauma center at Flagstaff Medical Center for emergency treatment.
According to information broadcast to officers, the suspect vehicle fled the scene prior to police arrival. The vehicle is believed to possibly be an older-model black lifted truck with tinted windows and front-end damage.
Motorists are advised that lane restrictions may be present in the area as police continue their investigation. Anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspect vehicle is urged to contact the Flagstaff Police Department.
