Traffic stop on I-40 leads to 12.5 pounds of meth seized; driver arrested.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — A Coconino County Sheriff’s Office K9 traffic stop led to the seizure of approximately 12.54 pounds of suspected methamphetamine late Monday, Aug. 18, according to CCSO.

Around 9:44 p.m., a deputy with the CCSO K9 Unit stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Interstate 40 eastbound near milepost 185. During the stop, the deputy saw packages of suspected methamphetamine inside the vehicle. A subsequent search turned up about 12.54 pounds of the drug, with an estimated street value of $10,000, officials said.

The driver, Josue Caballero Macias, 40, was arrested and booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility on charges of Transportation of Dangerous Drugs for Sale.

CCSO said the case remains under investigation and no additional information is available at this time.
